Morning in Olympic National Park

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God’s recreation of the new day

Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world

I have my parents to thank for my love of Cat Steven’s music. Though I may not have thought of Morning Has Broken when I took this picture – looking at it now, it seems perfectly titled and paired.

Morning fog in the mountians

I was captivated by this fog. It rolled in during the morning hours, while we were packing up and getting ready to leave Lunch Lake in Olympic National Park. Lunch Lake was a pleasant location to camp. We were visited by both Rangers and mountain goats while at the lake. Both encounters were pleasant, though I will admit that we took to clapping a lot and attempting to startle the goats away when they approached too closely.

Seeing simple

My eyes are continually drawn to layers, lines and other design elements while among the wilderness. Among Nature’s design exists great calm and peace.

Lupines + Olympus

Lupines and Mount Olympus prove a winning combination while hiking along the High Divide in Olympic National Park. From our camp at Lunch Lake in Seven Lakes Basin, we wandered a way trail towards the High Divide. Although this bypassed the section of trail around Bogachiel Peak, we were still treated to majestic mountain scenery in all directions.
